Police: Man Seeking Cigarette Breaks into Clarksville Home

The woman who was home at the time said a man forced his way into her house as she fled in a towel.

A man who said he wanted a cigarette was arrested after a woman said he broke into her home, the Howard County Times reported.

According to police, 44-year-old Andreas Paul Kovacs, of Clarksville, was arrested Monday after police responded to a burglary report at a home on the 5800 block of Trotter Road just after noon.

The victim told police that she was upstairs when she heard someone come inside. She called out to her fiancé, according to police, but he was not home. According to charging documents, the victim had just gotten out of the showe. She grabbed a towel and closed a door that separates the upstairs living area from the rest of the home, the Times reported.

The victim, who had met Kovacs a couple of times, said he was yelling for her fiancé because he wanted a cigarette, according to the charging documents. She responded that her fiancé wasn’t home and tried to close the door, according to the documents, but Kovacs forced his way through.

The victim grabbed her young son and went downstairs to the other side of the house where she called police.

Responding officers found Kovacs at home, according to police. He was arrested and faces burglary and trespassing charges.

Sounds like he wasn't there to visit her, and didn't know how to knock and wait. Wonder what his alcohol level was.
