Police Arrest Two in Snowball Stand Burglaries

Police said the men struck late at night using bolt cutters to break into popular snowball stands.

Howard County police arrested two men believed to be involved with late night break-ins at snowball stands in Clarksville and Woodstock.

Tyler James Boyer, 21, of Glenwood, and Christopher Jerome Grimley, 29, of Glendale were charged with two counts of second- and fourth-degree burglary, as well as theft and destruction of property after being arrested on Aug. 8.

Police said the two men struck first at the snowball stand in front of Kendall's Hardware, in the 12200 block of Clarksville Pike in Clarksville on the night of July 26, around 11:48 p.m. They pried open the door of the stand, attempted to remove a safe, but were unsuccessful, according to police.

Then on July 30, a second stand was struck in Woodstock. Police said around 3 a.m., two suspects kicked in the front door to "The Snowball Stand" in the 1900 block of Woodstock Road, stole cash from two cash registers and ransacked the interior.

The men used bolt cutters, cut off saws, screw drivers and pry bars to break into the businesses, report police. Police tracked Boyer and Grimley down using surveillance footage from the stands and a convenience store near Kendall Hardware.

Police are investigating whether the two men may have been involved in similar burglaries at pool and other snowball stands in recent weeks.
