Paralyzed Ellicott City Man Sentenced to Jail for Driving, Violating Parole

He was caught driving, a probation violation from a fatal accident nine years ago.

An Ellicott City man was sentenced to return to prison after he was caught driving, a violation of his probation from an earlier double manslaughter conviction, according to the Associated Press.

An AP article in The Daily Record reports Matthew Meyer, 31, was sentenced in Hagerstown Wednesday. He will spend 3 1/2 years in prison and was given a 3 1/2 year suspended sentence. 

Meyer, who is paralyzed from the chest down from injuries from a 2000 car accident, was sent to prison after a 2002 car crash in Washington County, according to the AP. Killed in that crash were Gerald and Mary Ellen Dieterich.

Meyer was released after serving more than four years, according tot he AP, but ordered not to drive.
