One Dead After Ellicott City Collision

Police say Saturday's rainy conditions may have contributed to the collision.

An 87-year-old man is dead after a collision Saturday afternoon in Ellicott City, according to police.

The single-vehicle collision was on MD Route 99 near the intersection of St. John’s Lane, according to a statement released by the traffic enforcement section of the Howard County Police Department. 

At about 1:42 p.m., Harold Paul Mazmanian of Ellicott City was driving alone, eastbound on Route 99 in a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup when the truck drove off the road, and hit a tree, according to the statement.

When responders arrived at the scene, Mazmanian was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests Mazmanian’s speed coupled witih the rainy conditions contributed to the collision, according to the traffic enforcement section, which is investigating.
