Nine Arrested at Ellicott City Sobriety Checkpoint

Multiple drivers were arrested for driving under the influence and drug violations during the checkpoint on Friday.


Police arrested nine people at a sobriety checkpoint near the intersection of westbound Route 40 and Governors Run Way in Ellicott City on Friday.

Seven drivers were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, one for a drug violation and the ninth arrest was an unlicensed driver. Two of those arrested for DUI were also charged with drug violations, said police.

Police screened a total of 950 drivers during the checkpoint, which was staffed by Howard County officers and Maryland State Police.
