Neighbor Chases Teens from Nearby Residence: Howard County Crime Reports

Ellicott City

Residential burglary

Someone kicked in a rear wooden door and ransacked a residence in the 8600 block of Frederick Road during the day on July 22. Three laptops, a Kindle, an oak-shaped mailbox containing coins and two pillowcases were reported stolen.

Residential burglary attempt

A rear sliding glass door was shattered at a residence in the 10200 block of Tuscany Road sometime between July 20 – 23, but the glass did not fully break, preventing entry.

Cooksville

Trespassing

A neighbor spotted four teenagers hanging outside a residence in the 14000 block of Monticello Dr. on July 16 and knew the residence’s owners were on vacation. When the neighbor approached, the teens fled into the home and the neighbor gave chase, eventually chasing them out of the front door. There were no signs of forced entry.

Columbia

Residential break-in

Someone entered a residence in the 6100 block of Encounter Row on July 24 by forcing a window screen open, then later exited through a rear sliding door, but nothing was reporting missing.

Residential burglary

An electronic gaming system was reported stolen from a house in the 10200 block of Daystar Court sometime in the morning on July 24.

Residential burglary

Someone entered a vacant apartment and took a shower in the 10600 block of Gramercy Place sometime between May 14 and July 17. Nothing was reported taken or damaged.

Residential burglary attempt

A neighbor saw a man with a shirt wrapped around his face peeking into car and house windows in the 5670 block of Thicket Lane around 11 a.m. on July 22. The man covering his face attempted to force open a back gate to a residence, but saw he was being observed and fled.

Elkridge

Residential catburglary

A person inside a home in the 6300 block of Loudon called police when someone started knocking on the kitchen door of the residence. When no one answered, a man tried to open the door, but was unsuccessful and walked to an open side window, which he opened. At that point the person inside the house screamed and saw two men outside flee to a silver colored sedan driven by a female.

Commercial burglary

Someone attempted to pry their way into a bay door at Room & Board Home Furnishings, but no entry was gained overnight on July 23 – 24.

North Laurel

Residential burglary

A resident of a house in the 10400 block of White Court found a bedroom ransacked and cash, jewelry and electronics stolen after someone pried the side door to the home open on July 23 around 11 a.m.

Residential burglary

Someone broke into a residence in the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow and stole jewelry, a notebook computer and an iPad sometime during the day on July 23.
