Laurel Man Found Shot Multiple Times in Pickup Truck

Police are investigating the suspicious shooting in Laurel.

A Laurel man was found shot multiple times inside a pickup truck in Laurel around 10 p.m. Thursday night, Howard County police said.

Police responded to the scene in the 9400 block of Sewall Avenue after a caller said a pickup truck crashed into a tree on his property.

Police found Russell Elbert Rowe, 24, of Main Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Rowe was flown to the shock trauma center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Police say someone may have confronted Rowe as he sat in his truck on Sewall Avenue. Police said it's unclear why Rowe was there, but that investigators believe he accelerated his truck after being shot, causing him to crash into the tree.

Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 410-313-3200.
