Indictment For Man Accused of Countywide Burglaries

The Howard County man faces more than a half-dozen burglary charges.

A Howard County man has been indicted on several burglary charges in a string of home invasions that date back to last summer.

Police say they caught Robert W. Stone, who has an address in Elkridge and one in Columbia listed in court records, on the 1000 block of Ridermark Row.

According to police, officers were investigating a stolen vehicle on Nov. 22 when they saw Stone walking past a house wearing a mask, dark clothes and gloves. Police said when Stone saw them, he tried to get into the car they had been investigating and drive away, but they were able to detain him.

During the ensuing investigation, police say they found evidence that linked Stone to several other break-ins, including one in July on the 6800 block of Creekside Road in Clarksville and one in August on the 5900 block of Bright Flows Mews in Columbia, in which the victim said he woke up at 3:40 a.m. to find a man in his bedroom.

Stone was released on bail after his Nov. 22 arrest, but arrested again in Baltimore City after Howard County Police issued another warrant.
