Indecent Exposure Reported at Centennial Park: Howard County Crime Reports

All information was provided by the Howard County Police Department. The following crimes were reported to police between Oct. 25 and Oct. 29.

Ellicott City

Indecent exposure - Centennial Park

A person running around Centennial Lake spotted a man about two feet off the trail exposing himself, facing the trail around 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 26. When the person went to question the man, he ran off. The suspect was described by police as a Hispanic male, about 50 years old, 5-foot-10, 225 pounds, with a large gut, wearing a zip-up gray sweater and army green khaki pants.

Possible church break-in

An exterior side door and an interior door at Grace Episcopal Church in the 5800 block of Main Street appeared to have been forced open, but nothing was reported missing or disturbed on Oct. 27 around 8 a.m. 

Attempted break-in

Police found a broken padlock on a rear shed at the Shell Gas Station in the 5600 block of Waterloo Road, but found the main building secure after responding to an alarm around 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 27. Nothing in the shed appeared to be disturbed. The gas station was abandoned about a month ago.

Columbia

Possible break-in

Someone entered a residence in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road through a ground-level window around 5 p.m. on Oct. 26. Nothing inside the resident appeared to be disturbed.

Marriottsville

Construction site burglary - arrests

A police officer making an area check in the 2000 block of Marriottsville Road spotted an unoccupied truck around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 near a construction site and began to search the area. He located a shed containing copper found open, a man hiding behind a tarp and a second man nearby. The shed had been closed at the end of the business day, according to police. Both men, one 30, the other 42, are from Baltimore. They were charged with burglary, trespassing and destruction of property.

Elkridge

Possible break-in - Norbel School

Officers responding to an alarm at the Norbel School in the 6100 block of Old Washington Road around 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 found a padlocked door pried open and a glass section of the door's window broken. It's unknown if entry was made. Police reported last week someone had entered the former school building and "spent a significant amount of time inside."

Residential burglary

Someone broke a side door window pane to unlock the door at a residence in the 5700 block of Race Road and then stole three handguns and a safe containing ammo and jewelry sometime during the day on Oct. 28. The three handguns were later recovered on the front lawn of the residence inside a shaving bag.

North Laurel

Residential burglary

Keys to a vehicle were stolen from a garage in the 9500 block of Kingswood Court sometime during the evening of Oct. 26 after the homeowners left the garage door open.

Hanover

Residential burglary

The master bedroom was ransacked and jewelry was taken from a residence in the 6400 block of Skipton Drive during the day on Oct. 28. Police said entry was made by breaking a window next to the front door and then opening the door.
