Howard, Baltimore Counties Investigate Shooting of Teen in Ellicott City

Authorities will not say where, exactly, the teenager lives.

Baltimore County authorities are assisting with the investigation into the shooting of a 15-year-old male in Ellicott City, according to a spokesperson.

A resident found the teenager Tuesday just after 7 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head in a field on the 11400 block of Frederick Road, according to Howard County Police Department spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.

Howard County police said Wednesday that they think suspects drove the victim to Ellicott City, where he got out of the car and was shot in the head.

The teenager was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in critical but stable condition late Wednesday morning.

Llewellyn said that police will not name the victim or identify his hometown, beyond the fact that he is a Baltimore County resident.

“We are not releasing any info that could contribute to identifying the victim at this time,” she said early Wednesday evening.

Police say an “ongoing dispute” between the suspects and victim may have led to the shooting but they are still investigating the details of the dispute.

Cpl. Cathy Batton of the Baltimore County Police Department said that the county had assigned detectives to assist Howard County police in the investigation.

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information about the incident and asking anyone with information to call police at 410-313-STOP.
