Police identified the woman killed in a head-on collision on Route 32 Saturday as Mayra Liseth Maldonado Vasquez, 27, of Guatemala.

The collision occurred about 4:15 a.m. on MD Rt. 32, just east of Dorsey Run Road, according to a statement from the police department. A 2004 Acura MDX driven by Vasquez was traveling westbound on Rt. 32 in the eastbound lanes when it struck a 2011 Hino tow truck traveling in the eastbound lanes.

Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified Vasquez after notifying her family in Guatemala. Police believe Vasquez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The front seat passenger of the Acura was injured and taken to the University of Maryland's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The passenger was identified as Alexander Martinez-Guerra, 34, of College Park. Martinez-Guerra is currently listed in critical but stable condition, said police.

The driver of the tow truck, Paul Travis Grove, 28, of the 100 block of Sharon Court in Laurel, was also injured and taken to the trauma center. He is reported to be in stable condition.

The crash closed Rt. 32 for about three hours. Howard County police officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
