Head-On Collision in Highland Sends Two to Shock Trauma

Victims not yet named.

Howard County Police are investigating a collision that occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of the Clarksville Pike and Briaridge Court in Highland, that sent two people to Shock Trauma.

The driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a 1999 GMC Yukon carrying one occupant, according to a press release from the Howard County Police Department.

Preliminary investigation shows the Chevrolet driver's "failure to drive right of center" was the primary cause of the collision, according to police.

Both drivers were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Medevac and are listed in "stable" condition, according to HCPD.

Police will not release the identity of the driver of the Chevrolet until the driver's family is notified, according to the statement. HCPD continues to investigate the collision.
