Funeral Set for Officer Killed in Catonsville

Officer Jason Schneider's family remembers him as "an amazing father, husband, son and brother."

A funeral will be held Saturday in Manchester for the Baltimore County police officer who was fatally shot while serving a warrant at a Catonsville home Wednesday morning.

Officer Jason Schneider, 36, was a 13-year veteran of the force, assigned to the tactical division since 2004, according to police.

There will be a viewing Friday, Aug. 30, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Eckhardt's Funeral Home, located at 3296 Charmil Drive in Manchester, Md.

The funeral will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, located at 2930 Hanover Pike in Manchester, Md.

The Schneider family issued a statement Thursday:

Our entire family would like to thank everyone for their support during a very difficult time. The support has been tremendous and we can't thank you enough. Jason was an amazing father, husband, son and brother. Jason was an honorable and affectionate man who will be remembered and never forgotten. Jason was a dedicated police officer and Marine who loved and cared for everyone. Once again we thank everyone. 

The processional route on Saturday will follow Route 30 South to I-795 South via the Hampstead Bypass, I-795 South to I-695 East, I-695 East to 83 North, 83 North to East Padonia Road, and East Padonia Road to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
