Fire Crews Fight Weekend Brush Fire

Crews from two counties fought more than three acres of fire in Ellicott City.

About 40 firefighters from two counties spent more than three hours Sunday fighting a brush fire in Ellicott City.

According to José A. Sánchez, Executive Battalion Chief, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, fire crews responded to a reported brush fire at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived to the 8300 block of Old Frederick Road, about 3.5 acres of brush was on fire and winds were gusting faster than 10 mph, according to a statement from Sánchez.

Ultimately 13 fire trucks along with eight specialized brush trucks from Howard and Baltimore Counties spent more than three hours on the scene. 

The fire was extinguished with no injuries or significant damage, according to Sánchez. It remains under investigation.
