Extended Stay America Robbed by Masked Men: Howard County Crime

Armed Robbery - Montgomery Road

A business near the 4800 block of Montgomery Road was robbed by a man with a handgun on Christmas Eve around 1 a.m. Read more on Ellicott City Patch.

Residential Burglary - Melba Road

A woman returned to her home to find a man carrying jewelry and coins out of her residence. When he saw her, he threw the items he was carrying at her and fled in a truck that was parked in the driveway at about 5 p.m. on Dec. 21.

Columbia

Commercial Armed Robbery and Burglary - Extended Stay America

A hotel located near the 8800 block of Stanford Blvd. was robbed by two masked men, one armed with a shotgun, on Dec. 21 around 10 p.m. According to police, the men entered the hotel wearing ski caps, bandanas and gloves and demanded money from the clerk, who turned it over. 

Police described the men as two black males, one wearing a black ski cap, a bandana, blue sweatshirt, faded jeans and black shoes who was armed with a shotgun. The second man had a bandana and was wearing a white t-shirt over a gray sweatshirt with dark gloves and blue jeans.

Extended Stay was also struck by burglars. Sometime between 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 and 4 a.m. on Dec. 22 an unknown person or persons smashed three ground-level windows at the hotel and stole televisions and DVD players from three rooms.

Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed - Torrent Row

A pizza delivery driver was robbed by three men after arriving at a vacant residence near the 9300 block of Torrent Row on Dec. 23. Around 10 p.m., the driver was confronted by a man who led him into an unlocked garage. Inside, two other men rifled through the driver's pockets and stole cash. In addition, a cell phone was stolen from the driver's car. One of the men implied he had a knife, but none was shown, according to police.

Suspected Burglar Caught with Aid of K9 Officer - Snowden River Parkway

A 22-year-old Captiol Heights man was caught by a police officer with the aid of a K9. Police said the man was fleeing from the scene of a burglary near Longhorn Steakhouse on Christmas Eve. An officer responded to the scene around 4 a.m. to find the man leaving the area on foot. Police said they took the man into custody. The man had a black ski mask, a portable radio and was wearing camouflage clothing. Inside the business, cash was stolen from an office safe, police said.

Residential Burglary - Single Wheel Path

Two televisions and a bicycle were stolen from a residence near the 7200 block of Single Wheel Path after someone threw a rock through a front living room window to gain entrance sometime between Dec. 21 and 24.

Residential Burglary - Lightspun Lane

An unknown person or persons forced open a rear basement window to gain entry to a residence near the 5600 block of Lightspun Lane. Inside, the master bedroom was ransacked and a laptop was stolen around 5 p.m. on Dec. 24.

North Laurel

Commercial Burglary - Whiskey Bottom Road

Power tools and a GPS were stolen from an unlocked work van sometime between Dec. 22 and 23 at Precision Door Service near the 9100 block of Whiskey Bottom Road.

Woodstock

Attempted Residential Burglary - Yellow Dahlia Drive

An alarm was triggered at a residence near the 10800 block of Yellow Dahlia Drive around 3 a.m. on Dec. 21, but when a resident went to check the cause, nothing was found. Later, the resident discovered pry marks on multiple windows and one window ajar, but no entry was gained.

Elkridge

Vandalism - Arrow Way

An unknown person or persons gained entry to two unoccupied trailers, then punched holes in the walls, shattered a glass sliding door and smashed bathroom windows sometime between Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.

County Wide Vehicle Thefts

A 2010 white Dodge was reported stolen near the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway at 5:52 on Dec. 21.

A red 2010 Ford Fusion was reported stolen near the 9000 block of Snowden Square Drive on Dec. 23 at 10:55 p.m.

A 2012 gray Acura MDX was reported stolen near the 8400 block of Baltimore National Pike on Dec. 24 around 7 a.m.

A tan Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen near the 9000 block of Madowvale Court on Dec. 24 around 2:43 p.m.
