Ellicott City Collision Sends Family to Shock Trauma

One woman is in critical condition after a collision on MD Route 100.

A family was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Monday night after a three-car collision on MD Route 100, according to Howard County Police.

The collision occurred at about 7 p.m. near the southbound Long Gate Parkway on-ramp. According to police, a 2005 Toyota Camry was on the ramp, entering MD Route 100 eastbound when the driver lost control, causing the car to spin out into the eastbound lanes.

A 2006 Infinity FX35 was driving eastbound when it struck the Camry, according to police, and then the Infinity was struck by a 2006 Toyota Corrolla.

The family was taken to Shock Trauma; Anita Kudagunti, who was sitting in the passenger seat, is listed in critical condition, according to police. Mallikarjuna Kudagunti, his 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both children were in child safety seats.

Garnett Lancaster Jr., 32, of Helonias Court in Pasedena, was alone in the Infinity and, according to police, taken to Howard County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Ambar Saeed, 27, of Bright Meadow Court in Ellicott City, was driving the Corolla. She was not injured, according to police.

Police say that the preliminary investigation has shown speed and the wet roads caused Kudagunti to lose control of his vehicle. The accident is still under investigation.
