Ellicott City Burglaries and Cab Driver Robbed at Gunpoint: Howard County Crime Roundup

A sampling of crimes reported in Ellicott City and around Howard County.

Ellicott City: Burglary

Jewelry, electronics, clothing, food items and household items were stolen from a residence on the 8700 block of Autumn Hill Drive. The residence was also ransacked. The suspect or suspects entered through a rear sliding glass door. The burglary happened sometime between 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, and 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28.

Building supplies were stolen from the 4600 block of Sheppard Manor Drive. The suspect or suspects entered through a garage door, then forced open a door to the inside of the building. The burglary happened sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25, and 7:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28.

A taxi driver who had picked up a fare at a Wilde Lake gas station soon found that his customers were actually crooks, according to the Howard County Police Department.

It was about 11 p.m. on Monday, March 28, when the driver picked up two men from the Crown gas station on the 10400 block of Twin Rivers Road. Minutes later, the vehicle was on Eliot's Oak Road – and the men pulled out a gun.

The driver was robbed of cash, a cell phone and a GPS, police said.

One suspect was described as being between 18 and 25 years old and wearing blue jeans and a black hooded jacket. The other suspect was described as being between 18 and 25 years old and wearing blue jeans and a gray jacket.
