Ellicott City Apartment Fire Displaces Three

The fire began around 4:30 a.m. at a garden-style apartment complex.


Firefighters battled a fire at an apartment complex that started around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the 3300 block of North Chatham Road.

Crews were able to control the fire in a first floor bedroom by 4:45 a.m., according to Maria Hogg, a spokesperson for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. Three people were displaced due to the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross, Hogg said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. There were no injuries reported. The fire caused about $35,000 in damages to the property.

Hogg described the apartment building as a three-story garden-style apartment complex.
