Elkridge Man Identified as Person Found Dead in Centennial Lake

Police said the 60-year-old may have slipped on ice and fallen into the lake.

Police said Douglas Robert Morin, 60, of Elkridge, was the man found dead in an icy Centennial Lake on Sunday morning.

Investigators say Morin may have slipped on ice near the edge of the water and fallen into the lake at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. His body was found by a citizen around 9 a.m. on Sunday, which led to the park being closed for part of the day.

Morin's family notified police late Sunday that they had not seen or heard from him since about 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, which led police to believe he died sometime between 8 and 9 a.m. His body was located near the lake's boat dock, police said.

After a search, police located Morin's car on Ten Mills Road and later confirmed the body was Morin's, police said.

Police reported no foul play is suspected. Morin's body was transported to the office of the medical examiner for an autopsy.

This is the second time in the last three months a man has been found dead in a Howard County lake.

In October, Andrew Nathaniel Austin, 32, was found dead in Lake Elkhorn. A spokesperson for the medical examiner's office said last week that the office is awaiting test results to determine the cause and manner of Austin's death.
