Crimes Around Columbia: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge: Commercial Break-In

Between 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 1:30 p.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass door and attempted to remove a safe from Haker's Auto Sales, on the 5800 block of Washington Boulevard. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Columbia: Robbery

Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sept. 23, two unknown suspects approached a victim on the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road and asked for a cigarette. After the victim complied, the suspects displayed a gun and demanded valuables, assaulting the victim and stealing a cell phone, cash and cigarettes.

Columbia: Robbery

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Sept. 25, four unknown suspects approached a victim on the 9600 block of Whiteacre Road and asked if he would like to purchase electronics. The victim declined and then the suspects assaulted him, stealing his cell phone and fleeing on foot.

Columbia: Commercial Robbery

Shortly after 3 pm. on Sept. 25, three unknown suspects entered the Exxon-Mobil on the 10100 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, displayed a gun and demanded cash from an emplyee. The employee complied and the suspects fled on foot toward the lakefront.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Sept. 23, a suspect entered a model apartment on the 5200 block of Cedar Lane and was discovered sleeping by an employee. Officers arrested the Columbia man and charged him with fourth-degree burglary.

Columbia: Break-In Attempt

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, an unknown number of suspects attempted to enter a residence on the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place, asking to be let in, but no entry was gained.

Columbia: Break-In

Between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 5000 block of Durham Road East and removed a safe. Police said the safe was located in the yard and intact.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, a vehicle was reported stolen from Enterprise Rental, on the 8900 block of McGaw Court, after a customer failed to return a rental vehicle.

Laurel: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 24, a silver 2003 BMW 745 was stolen from a residence on the 9400 block of Canterbury Riding.
