Chat Line Date Gone Wrong, Medicine Cabinet Robbery: Crime Roundup

Ellicott City:

Howard County Police say an assortment of prescription drugs were stolen from a home on the 3600 block of Joycin Court on Oct. 2 at about 4 a.m. The resident told police that his dogs woke him up and when he went downstairs, he saw a man standing in his living room. The resident said he told the suspect to leave, and the man left in a black vehicle. Police say the resident noticed the cabinet where he kept his medications had been ransacked and he was missing his prescriptions for  Adderall, Oxycodone and Xanax.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 35 years old with a brown beard. He was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans. 

Columbia:

A victim told police that he was robbed at gunpoint at The Mall in Columbia on Nov. 2, just before 9 p.m..  According to the victim, three men approached him in the parking lot of the AMC Theater and struck up a conversation, then demanded money. According to the victim, one of the suspects showed a handgun.

The victim told police that he gave one of the men his wallet, and then they got in a black Volkswagen and drove away. The victim got in his car, called 911, and followed them to Green Mountain Circle, according to police.

Officers stopped the suspects and arrested three Columbia men, ages 18, 18 and 19. They face robbery, assault, theft and gun charges.

Police responded to an alarm on the 6200 block of Welcome Home Drive on Nov. 4 at about 11 p.m. When they arrived, the residents said they heard someone run through the kitchen and into the basement, where they saw him running out the back door with a 12-pack of beer and a battery charger. According to police, the back door had been unlocked. The suspect was 5’10”, about 180 lbs and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Laurel:     

Police say a man met two women on a chat line, and on Oct. 3, he ate with them at McDonalds, then brought them back to his home on the 9200 block of Livery Lane. He had sex with one of the women and was relaxing with them when one of the women hit him on the head with a large plastic statue. The man went to the bathroom to check his injury, according to police, and when he came back, the women were gone and so were his car keys and his car.

Police say suspects forced their way into a residence on the 10600 block of Hunters Way on Nov. 2 sometime between 9:20 a.m. and 4 p.m. The suspects first tried to pry open a back door, police say, but they couldn’t get it open so they pried open a window and stole jewelry.

Highland:      

Police say suspects entered a garage on the 135000 block of Paternal Gift Drive sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. The suspects stole several mountain bikes, according to police; two were found in the victim’s yard, neighbors down the street found two bikes and two bikes are still missing.

Jessup:    

Suspects entered the Columbia Junction Barbershop on the 8600 block of Washington Boulevard sometime between Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 and stole a television, according to police.  There were no signs of forced entry. 

Clarksville:    

Suspects entered a home through an open garage and unlocked door on the 6600 block of Welcome Night Path on Nov. 3 at about 5:30 a.m., according to police. The victims said an alarm went off and one of the residents heard a noise in the garage; the victims did not see a suspect. Later that morning, one of the residents told police she discovered her purse was missing; it was later found in a nearby mailbox missing cash and a cell phone.

According to police, suspects entered a residence on the 6500 block of Autumn Wind Circle sometime between the morning of Oct. 29 and the morning of Oct. 3 through an unlocked back door and stole a change jar.
