Called to Nonexistent Address, Another Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed: Howard County Crime Roundup

A pizza delivery driver had arrived to find out that the address to which he'd been called didn't actually exist – and that's when he was attacked and robbed, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The robbery happened on Sunday, Feb. 13, on the 6600 block of Downdale Place in Columbia. The victim, a 29-year-old Columbia man, had driven there to make his delivery, stepping out of his vehicle and realizing that there was no such address as the one given by the person who ordered the pizza, police said.

That's when five people approached him, and one of those people hit him in the face. 

The victim ran away, leaving the pizza behind, got back into his vehicle and drove away, police said. The suspects took the pizza, according to police.

The robbery and assault were reported about 24 hours later, police said.

The victim was the fifth case of a food delivery driver being robbed in the past two months. More information on the other robberies can be found at and .

PATAPSCO MIDDLE SCHOOL/ELLICOTT CITY: BREAK-IN

Police were not certain whether anything was stolen following what was either a break-in or an unsuccessful break-in attempt at Patapsco Middle School on the 8800 block of Old Frederick Road. The suspect or suspects broke two windows and a door. The incident was reported at 1:59 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.

ELLICOTT CITY: BURGLARY

Two safes containing a camera, a watch, and documents were stolen from a residence on the 3100 block of West Springs Drive. The suspect or suspects entered by forcing open a rear window. The burglary happened sometime between 7 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.

LAUREL: ROBBERY

Police are looking for three teens suspected of robbing a victim of his cell phone at the McDonald's on the 9200 block of All Saints Road.

The suspects approached the victim near the restaurant's bathroom and assaulted him at about 5:48 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, police said.  

The suspects were described as being between 15 and 17 years old.

HARPER'S CHOICE: BREAK-IN ATTEMPT WITH ARREST

A Baltimore County woman was arrested after allegedly trying to enter the house of someone she knew by hiring a locksmith to change the locks, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Victoria Nicole Speight, 20, of 1103 Sandy Stone Road in Essex, has been charged with third- and fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

She was arrested after police were called to the 5100 block of Phantom Court at about 8:04 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. The home's residents had arrived home before Speight had gained entry, according to police.

She is due in court March 17 for the charges relating to the alleged break-in attempt, and on May 6 for the drug-related charges, according to court documents.

CLARKSVILLE: BREAK-in ATTEMPT

No entry was gained following an attempted break-in on the 10400 block of Clarksville Pike. The suspect or suspects tried to enter the residence by prying open a door. The attempted break-in sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
