Butcher Knife Brandished During CVS Robbery: Howard County Crime Reports

Ellicott City

Residential burglary – Wheaton Way

Two laptops and four watches were reported stolen from a residence in the 3200 block of Wheaton Way after a person or persons made entry through a second-story balcony sliding glass door overnight on Feb. 5 – 6.

West Friendship

Residential burglary – Stiles Way

Alarm speakers were torn from the wall at a residence in the 3100 block of Stiles Way on Feb. 6. The rear French doors were smashed to gain entry and master bedroom dresser drawers were searched, but nothing was reported missing.

Columbia

Robbery – King’s Contrivance CVS

A man stole a variety of DVDs and over-the-counter medications after entering the CVS in the 8600 block of Guilford Road around 4 p.m. on Feb. 5. As two employees attempted to confront the man, he brandished a large butcher knife and fled. Police described the suspect as a black male in his mid-30s, about 6 feet, slim to medium build, with a thin trimmed beard, medium complexion, wearing tan colored pants, a black aviator style jacket, a black and white baseball cap and was carrying a brown satchel bag.

Commercial burglary attempt – Lark Brown Road

Three vehicles were broken into after a person or persons cut a hole in the gate at Sanford Kramer Plumbing in the 8100 block of Lark Brown Road between Feb. 1 – 4. Nothing was reported missing.

Residential burglary – Thunder Hill Road

A person or persons forced a rear door open at a residence in the 5300 block of Thunder Hill Road and stole jewelry and cash on Feb. 4.

Residential burglary attempt – Bird Song Pass

A resident reported that a rear window screen had been tampered with and police found visible pry marks, but no entry was made at a residence in the 10800 block of Bird Song Pass on Feb. 6.

Residential burglary – Margrave Mews

A person or persons stole jewelry, a video game system and an e-reader after gaining entry to residence in the 5700 block of Margrave Mews by forcing open a basement window in the afternoon on Feb. 6.

Residential burglary – Hickory Ridge Road

A TV, an electronic gaming system, video games, clothing, shoes, DVDs, an iPhone dock and jewelry were stolen from an apartment in the 10400 block of Hickory Ridge Road on Feb. 5. Police did not report how entry was made.

Countywide Vehicle Thefts

 A 2004 red Mazda 3 was reported stolen in the 6200 block of Plaited Reed sometime overnight on Feb. 5 – 6.

A 2001 black Ford F-250 was reported stolen in the 8300 block of Dorsey Run Road on the morning of Feb. 4.

A 2007 silver Saturn Ion was reported stolen in the 8800 block of Foxborough Drive on Feb. 4.
