Burglar at Swim Club Drinks Wine, Watches Videos: Howard County Crime Report

The following information is from the Howard County Police Department.

Ellicott City

Commercial burglary

Someone removed a sliding window at the Forest Hill Swim and Tennis Club on the 4300 block of Columbia Road on June 22 at about 3:30 a.m. The burglar got into the snack bar area, then watched videos on the computer and ate some snack food. A half empty bottle of wine was also found on pool grounds and lounge chairs were found in the pool.

Robbery 

A woman was on the 5300 block of Kerger Road on June 23 at about5:10 p.m. responding to an ad. She met a man who she thought she was buying an iPhone from. The woman gave the man money and he gave her an iPhone box, which she later discovered was empty. The man ran off with the money.

The suspect is described as a young black male, 17 or 18 years old, 5-foot-6-inches tall weighing about 140 pounds.

Laurel 

Residential burglary/attempted burglary

Someone tried to break into a home on the 8600 bloc of Eastern Morning Run sometime between June 17 and June 19 by prying the screen off of a back window. Police say no entry was made into the home. 

Someone entered an open garage door and removed a bicycle on the 10000 block of Fall Rain Drive. The burglary was reported late, on June 21. 

A resident at a home on the 9200 block of Brewington Lane heard a loud noise coming from the basement at about 11:40 a.m. on June 21. The resident went to investigate and saw a man  running away from the window. There was no damage to the window, but the screen had been removed.

The suspect is described as a white man with a short, buzz-cut hair. He was wearing blue shirt, blue jean shorts and tennis shoes. 

Savage

Residential burglary

Someone broke into a home on the 8800 block of Foxborough Drive on June 21 just after 8 p.m. The burglars broke a kitchen window and stole a television, men’s shoes an assorted jewelry.

Columbia

Robbery 

A woman approached a man on Friechie Row on June 21 at about 5:10 p.m.  She asked him for money. When the man refused, the woman began pulling on his shirt and demanding money. The man took some paper money from his pocket and the woman ripped it from his hand and ran away.

Residential burglary

Someone entered a residence on the 6500 block of Seedling Lane on June 20 at about 6 a.m. The burglar used a brick to break a window. The residence was ransacked and four televisions and computer items were reported stolen.  

County-wide vehicle thefts

A black BMW motorcycle was stolen from the 5300 block of Columbia Road on June 22 at about 7:30 a.m.

A box truck with the tags: MD 9AC1731 was stolen from the 8200 block of Preston Court on June 24 at about 4:!5 a.m. 

A dark gray 2004 Nissan Quest was stolen from the 5700 block of Phelps Luck Drive at about 11:20 a.m.

A black Chevy Corvette with the tags: MD 3AH2803 was stolen from the 5600 block of Railroad Avenue on June 21 at about 4:30 a.m.
