Break-ins in Ellicott City, Columbia and Highland: Howard County Crime Roundup

Ellicott City: Break-in

It was not known what was stolen from the Our Lady Center on the 3300 block of Rogers Avenue. The suspect or suspects got inside by breaking a front window.

Ellicott City: Break-in

Nothing was stolen following a break-in at a residence on the 4500 block of Rolling Meadows. A resident saw a suspect inside an open garage; the suspect then ran away. The suspect was described as a male of unknown race, about 5-foot-9, skinny and wearing a striped sweatshirt.

Columbia: Robbery

What started as a late-night drug deal on the Cedar Lane footbridge ended with the prospective drug buyer being robbed of his cell phone, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The buyer was trying to get drugs from two "known suspects" at about 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, "when an altercation ensued," police said. The buyer dropped his cell phone, and the drug sellers picked it up and fled with it.

No other information was available.

Columbia: Break-in (with arrests)

What started with a call about suspicious people looking into vehicles in a parking lot ended with three Columbia men being arrested after being seen exiting a shed near the 8600 block of Cobblefield Drive, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The three men have been identified as Berkley G. Ashe, 20, of 9054 Phillip Dorsey Way; Carlton Wesley Morris, 40, of 9440 Brett Lane; and Larry Marquette Massey, 19, of 4833 Harpers Farm Road.

All three have been charged with one count of fourth-degree burglary and one count of possession of marijuana, police said.

Nothing was reported stolen from the shed.

Highland: Burglary

Building materials were stolen from a house under construction on the 6800 block of Green Hollow Way. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between Friday, April 8, and Thursday, April 14.

Columbia, Laurel: Vehicle thefts

- Columbia: A silver 2010 Chrysler Sebring with Maryland license plate 9AB8245 was stolen from the 10300 block of Nightmist Court. It was reported stolen at 10:11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13.

- Columbia: A red Mitsubishi Eclipse was stolen from the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road. It was reported stolen at 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 14.

- Laurel: A 2004 Jeep Wrangler was stolen from Carmax on the 8800 block of Freestate Drive. It was stolen sometime between 12:01 a.m. on Monday, April 11, and 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14.
