Break-ins and an Arrest in Ellicott City: Howard County Crime Roundup

Ellicott City: Break-in (and arrest)

A Baltimore man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a break-in on the 3100 block of Normandy Woods Drive.

DaShon J. Stewart, 20, of 600 W. Lafayette St., has been charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary and with malicious destruction of property.

Police say he was a "known suspect" who forced open a front door after the resident refuse to let him inside. He was allegedly inside the residence when officers arrived at about 12:42 a.m.

Ellicott City: Break-in

Little information was available concerning a break-in at a home on the 8900 block of Furrow Avenue. A "known suspect" entered an acquaintance's residence, police said. The break-in was reported at 1:35 p.m. on Monday, March 21.

Ellicott City: Vehicle Theft

A vehicle was stolen from the 3400 block of Court House Drive. No information was available beyond the date and time the theft was reported – 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

Clarksville: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in on the 12000 block of Floating Clouds Path. The suspect or suspects entered the home through an open garage and then through a door. The break-in was reported at 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

Columbia: Break-in attempt

Nothing was stolen following an attempted break-in on the 10300 block of Hickory Ridge Road. The suspect or suspects tried to get inside by tampering with a sliding rear glass door but were unable to do so. The attempted break-in was reported at 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

Clarksville: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in on the 6400 block of Kilbrogan Court. The suspect or suspects got inside an unlocked vehicle in the driveway, then used a garage door opener in the vehicle.

Police believe the suspect or suspects might have been interrupted by a police officer who was making area checks. The suspect or suspects were not located.

The break-in was reported at 3:58 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23.

Elkridge: Fight

One person was injured as the result of a fight outside the Elkridge  at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, according to police. When officials arrived, one man had been cut in the hand and his tires slashed, according to Howard County police spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen, who said the suspect and victim had an ongoing dispute over money.

The victim was taken to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment, said Schroen, and shortly thereafter, officers located and arrested Kalif Omar Richardson. Richardson, 21, of Riverdale, was charged with two counts of assault as well as destruction of property over $500. He was taken to Howard County Detention Center and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 19, according to court documents.

Elkridge: Burglary

A mountain bike, bike rack, scooters and skateboard were stolen from a garage on the 7000 block of Calvert Drive. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between 8:15 p.m. on Monday, March 21, and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

Elkridge: Break-in

Little information was available concerning a break-in at a Richmond American Homes construction site on the 6300 block of Old Washington Road. The break-in was reported at 8:41 a.m. on Monday, March 21.

Elkridge: Break-in

Little information was available concerning a break-in at a home on the 6800 block of Norris Lane. The break-in was reported at 6:34 p.m. on Monday, March 21.
