BB Gun Leads to Lockdown at Veterans Elementary

School officials say all students are safe.

The following was sent Thursday to Veterans Elementary School parents:

At dismissal today, the Howard County Police ordered a lockdown of Veterans Elementary School. The police were investigating reports of an individual with a firearm in the woods beside the school.  The building was locked down and all individuals outside were moved to an area in the school. The police did find an individual with a BB rifle in the area and they took appropriate action.  Police gave the "All Clear" signal and dismissal resumed. Buses may run a little late today. All students and staff are safe. Thank you to all of you for your cooperation.
