Assault and Robbery, Burglaries in Columbia: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Ellicott City: Break-in attempt/bicycle theft

A bicycle was stolen from the yard of a home on the 3600 block of Mount Ida Drive. The theft coincided with an attempted break-in at a residence there; no entry was made. The suspect or suspects tried to get inside by tampering with a rear door. The attempted break-in happened sometime between Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30.

Dorsey’s Search/Ellicott City: Burglary

A television was stolen from a residence on the 5300 block of Dorsey Hall Drive. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 28.

Columbia: Robbery

A female victim was assaulted and robbed early Sunday morning on the 5800 block of Robert Oliver Place, according to police. The suspect, described as a female wearing black shorts and a yellow top, approached the victim, assaulted her and stole her purse. The victim did suffer “a minor injury to the face,” police said. The robbery was reported at 1:50 a.m. on May 29.

Columbia: Burglary

Cash and coins were stolen from a home on the 10900 block of Eight Bells Lane. The suspect or suspects got inside after breaking a glass front door. The burglary happened sometime between 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, and 12 p.m. on Monday, May 30.

Columbia: Burglary

Clothing was stolen from a residence on the 8600 block of Snowden River Parkway. There were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between 1:10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 30.

Columbia: Burglary

Alcohol was stolen from Koko’s Deli & Liquor Store on the 7000 block of Oakland Mills Road. The suspect or suspects got inside by breaking a glass front door. The burglary happened between 4:20 a.m. and 4:23 a.m. on Thursday, May 26.

Columbia: Burglary

A television was stolen from Tresses Unlimited on the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way. The suspect got inside through a front door, though there were no signs of forced entry. The burglary happened sometime between 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 29.

Columbia: Burglary

A ladder was stolen from an unlocked greenhouse at a home on the 10500 block of Jason Court. The burglary happened sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.

Columbia: Break-in attempt

No entry was made during an attempted break-in at the Atholton Swim Club on the 6700 block of Allview Drive. The suspect tried to get inside by climbing a fence. Officers arriving on the scene found the suspect, who had injured his leg. His name was not provided. The attempted break-in, which remains under investigation, happened at about 7:17 a.m. on Friday, May 27.

Columbia/Guilford: Break-in

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in at a vacant house on the 9500 block of Oakhurst Drive. The suspect or suspects got inside after breaking a rear window. The break-in happened sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, and 11:45 a.m. on Friday, May 27.

Clarksville: Burglary/vehicle thefts

Three dirt bikes were stolen from a detached garage on the 5400 block of Jamesway Court. The suspect or suspects forced open a door. The burglary happened sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28.

Glenwood: Break-in

Little information was available about a break-in on the 3500 block of Countryside Drive. The break-in was reported at 9:12 p.m. on Monday, May 30.

West Friendship: Burglary/vehicle theft

A dirt bike was stolen from a garage at a residence on the 2800 block of Route 32. The burglary was reported at 11:49 a.m. on Sunday, May 29. No other information was available.
