Arrest Made in Elkridge Convenience Store Armed Robbery: Howard County Crime Roundup

Howard County police have arrested a man they say was the person who robbed a convenience store in Elkridge at gunpoint about two months ago.

Sean Patrick Skellenger, 21, of 501 Main St., in Laurel, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 16. He has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, assault, reckless endangerment, using a handgun in the commission of a felony, and theft.

He was being held at the Howard County Detention Center in Jessup on $50,000 bond.

Skellenger is accused of robbing the 7-Eleven on the 6500 block of Washington Boulevard. Police say he was in the shop at about 1:28 a.m. on Dec. 17 when he approached an employee, displayed a gun and demanded cash, police said.

The employee gave him cash and then Skellenger allegedly fled on foot.

A warrant for his arrest had initially been issued on Jan. 20, according to court records.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the District Court of Howard County on March 11.

TOWN CENTER: BURGLARY (WITH ARREST)

A Pasadena man was arrested following a burglary at Clyde's of Columbia on the 10200 block of Wincopin Circle.

Michael J. Burgress, 36, of 731 213th St., has been charged with theft, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment.

He was arrested at about 9:18 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, after a witness saw him allegedly stealing a cart from the restaurant and then driving away.

Police say the witness followed him and was able to give information about the suspect's vehicle to officers, who then stopped him and placed him under arrest.

LONG REACH: BURGLARY

A video game system was stolen from a home on the 8800 block of Tidesebb Court. The residence was also ransacked. The suspect or suspects entered by prying a rear window. The burglary happened sometime between Friday, Feb. 11, and Tuesday, Feb. 15.

COLUMBIA/RIDERMARK ROW: BREAK-IN ATTEMPT

Nothing was taken following a break-in attempt on the 11200 block of Ridermark Row. A suspect or suspects attempted to enter by tampering with a rear sliding glass door, but no entry was gained. The attempted break-in occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 3:44 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14.

ELKRIDGE: BURGLARY

Three laptops, an mp3 player and a sports bag were stolen from a residence on the 6000 block of Lori Lane. The suspect or suspects entered by breaking a rear sliding glass door. The burglary happened sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

ELKRIDGE: BREAK-IN

Nothing was reported stolen following a break-in on the 7900 block of Red Barn Way. The suspect or suspects entered the residence – a vacant home – by prying open a screen door and forcing open a front door. The break-in was reported at 11:24 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

JESSUP: BURGLARY

A television was stolen following a burglary on the 8400 block of Inwood Court. The suspect or suspects entered by unknown means. The burglary happened sometime between Jan. 29 and Feb. 13.

LAUREL: VEHICLE THEFTS

A trailer with a motorcycle inside of it were stolen from the 9800 block of Whiskey Run. The trailer is a black 2008 12-foot Valu trailer with Texas license plate 827RPW. The motorcycle is a 2007 Harley Davidson with expired North Carolina tags.
