10 Places in Howard County to Drop Off Unwanted Medications

The National Take Back initiative is happening all over the country on April 26.

The Howard County Police Department is offering free disposal of unwanted, unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, the following locations will be open for the National Drug Take Back Initiative:

  • Northern District Police Station, 3410 Court House Drive, Ellicott City
  • Southern District Police Station, 11226 Scaggsville Road, Laurel
  • Wilde Lake Village HC DrugFree, 10451 Twin Rivers Road, Suite 404, Columbia
  • Harper’s Choice Satellite Office, 5485 Harpers Farm Road, Columbia
  • Oakland Mills Police Satellite Office, 5820 Stevens Forest Road, Columbia
  • Long Reach Police Satellite Office, 8775 Cloudleap Court, Columbia
  • Owen Brown Police Satellite Office, 7154 Cradlerock Way, Columbia
  • North Laurel Police Satellite Office, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel 
  • Gary J. Arthur Community Center, 2400 Rt. 97, Cooksville
  • Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack, 777 Washington Boulevard, Jessup
This initiative is part of the the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Take Back Initiative that allows citizens to dispose of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications in a way that is anonymous, environmentally safe and can reduce instances of prescription drug poisonings, misuse, abuse and theft.

What to bring: prescriptions and over-the-counter medication
What not to bring: intravenous solutions, injectable medications and syringes
