"Bean Hollow'
One of my fave places to hang out in old Ellicott City is the Bean Hollow where I can always enjoy a refreshing ice coffee on these hot summer days and relax with a good book. For a snack their muffins and pastries are always yummy too. Adorning the walls you will always find wonderful art work and photography on display and for sale by local artists too. Charming atmosphere and always great service by the friendly staff too.
The Bean Hollow building served many purposes before becoming a cafe several years ago. At one time it served as a laundromat and Pizzeria , but originally served as a funeral home and an undertakers business. Easton and Sons name is still noticeable on the front facade of the Bean Hollow and it was Daniel Laumann and his son in law Clinton Easton purchased the undertaking business in the 1880s and the funeral home was located here until the late 1950s. The current building was built in the 1930s replacing an earlier building that was was an early frame structure.
