Blind Political Loyalty leads to Disenchantment

Blind Political Loyalty leads to Disenchantment

When Democrat political allies get lead blindly through the muck of Congressional Overreach, it can cause some 'Nightmare Scenarios.'  As some of the top labor unions are finding out.

Last week, three of the largest Labor Unions blasted a letter to Reid and Pelosi warning that Obamacare would “shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.”  James P. Hoffa, Joseph Hansen and Donald D. Taylor pressed on with this:
“When you and the President sought our support for the Affordable Care Act," they begin, “you pledged that if we liked the health plans we have now, we could keep them. Sadly, that promise is under threat…We have been strong supporters of the notion that all Americans should have access to quality, affordable health care. We have also been strong supporters of you. In campaign after campaign we have put boots on the ground, gone door-to-door to get out the vote, run phone banks and raised money to secure this vision. Now this vision has come back to haunt us.”

It is likely that many ordinary Democrat and Unaffiliated voters in Maryland are feeling the same way, that they were sadly duped by Pelosi's charge "you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it."

It is not any wonder that Maryland Democrats may be having the same felling about what Gov O'Malley and his rubber stamp legislative delegation have done to the voters of Maryland with the recent increase in Taxes and fees.  Take for instance, the Gas Tax.  It has been noted that "O’Malley has earmarked $660 million of the first $1.2 billion in revenue for controversial transit projects that gas tax payers don’t use, such as the Purple Line in the Washington suburbs and the Red Line in Baltimore." These are systems that will not benefit gas tax paying drivers.  Source: https://www.mdpolicy.org/research/detail/four-surprising-facts-about-marylands-new-gas-tax

The remainder of the revenues are also in jeopardy because the Democrats hold a stong majority and can easily raid the fund almost at will.  There is a long history of raiding the Transportation Fund.  Even though they included a provision in the Gas Tax Bill that requires a "three-fifths" majority is needed to raid it — THE DEMOCRATS ALREADY HOLD THAT MAJORITY.

One would hope that there will be an ever growing number of dischanted Democrats building up and coming to realize here in Maryland, and especially in Howard County, that going along with the party line in the coming 2014 election cycle may not be in their best interests.
