Help HB 1462, Task Force for Later School Start Times, Make it Through the Senate

Help Start School Later get HB 1462, Task Force for Later School Starts, passed through the Senate.

Due to the overwhelming number of phone calls and e-mails from Marylanders, HB 1462, Task Force to Study a Later Starting Time for Maryland Public Schools, passed in the Maryland House of Delegates by a unanimous vote (135-0).

The bill, HB 1462, calls for a Task Force to be formed so that all stakeholders in the community can come together and find creative, feasible solutions to school start times that would allow students to avoid starting school before 8:00am.

You also have the option to sign in with your Facebook or Twitter account.

None of the Senators have heard of this bill, or heard from any of us.   All they’ve seen of this issue has been the newspaper coverage.  So, let’s continue the conversation that we have started about school start times with our Senators. But hurry! A hearing is scheduled for April 3, 2013.  Even after that, we still need a committee vote and a vote in the full Senate and their legislative session ends on April 8, 2013.

Thanks for making this happen, and for your ongoing support. Every voice counts here if we want to see HB 1462 passed and get the conversation started to improve the health, safety and academic success of ALL of Maryland’s students!
