Patapsco River High Friday Morning - Video

The Patapsco river is high Friday morning, but still within its banks.

The Patapsco River was high near the Main Street bridge in Historic Ellicott City on Friday morning around 8:30 a.m., but it wasn't flooding.

The normally tranquil Tiber Branch was flowing quickly downtown, but still about four feet below its stone wall banks.

After two days of rain and two-plus inches more expected Friday, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning Friday morning for Howard County until 1:45 p.m.

As most residents know, because most of Main Street is in the 100-year flood plain, the area is prone to flooding. In Sept. 2011, after a flash flood, a river flowed down Main Street damaging businesses and residences in the Historic District.
