Local Survey Asks "Why Do You Visit Main Street?"

The survey is part of the newly formed Ellicott City Historic District Partnership's efforts to collect information on why people visit Main Street.

A new business and historical partnership in Ellicott City is asking residents in a survey what brings folks to Main Street and how often.

The results of the survey being conducted by the Ellicott City Historic District Partnership will be used to identify the wants of the community and provide information to attract new shop owners and restauranteurs to join the Historic District, according to Kelly Secret, a spokesperson for the partnership.

The Ellicott City Historic District Partnership is a newly-established charitable organization. The new partnership combines the Ellicott City Restoration Foundation and the Ellicott City Business Association into one group focused on preserving the look and feel of Main Street, according to HistoricEC.com. One of the goals of the partnership is to earn admittance to the Maryland Main Street Program and affiliate itself with the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street Center, according to the website.
