Blog: Shoppers Is No SuperFresh

The new grocery store hasn't impressed me.

I am a fan. It's where I do most of my regular grocery shopping. But when I needed something quick to complete my dinner menu or pick up a few things after work, I would head to the SuperFresh located on Route 40.

We all know that SuperFresh is gone and is here. The first week Shoppers was open, I went to check it out. The first thing I noticed was the fresh sushi was gone. Yes, I am a sushi addict and it was a great choice for a quick dinner.

Shoppers does have a lot more hot bar options which is available until 8 p.m., along with the salad bar. It also seemed that the store was set up a bit more logical than SuperFresh. But nothing else really stuck out or impressed me.

I've been back to Shoppers twice. Both times the lettuce at the salad bar was brown. The items at the hot bar looked old and needed to be refreshed. The produce was something to be desired. My neighbors have shared some of these same thoughts with me.

If Shoppers is here to stay, it wouldn't find me as a regular patron.
