Arts Council Announces Grant Recipients

Arts Council announces recipients of its Outreach Howard and Organizational Development grants

The Howard County Arts Council is pleased to announce that seven Baltimore City organizations have been awarded grants through the new Outreach Howard Grant Program. A total of $30,000 was awarded.  Outreach Howard was established to encourage recipients of the Arts Council’s Baltimore City Arts and Cultural grants to extend the reach of their programs directly to Howard County residents by producing an arts and/or cultural activity at a location in Howard County. 

American Visionary Art Museum will receive $4,644 for a collaborative quilt-making program with an anti-bullying theme to be instituted at Howard County schools.

Baltimore Museum of Industry will receive $2,175 for senior citizen outreach programs that will include lectures, historic object demonstration, and documentary films on topics relating to the region’s industrial history.

CENTERSTAGE will receive $6,883 to perform excerpts from five productions and host theatre-related panel discussions at the Howard County Library and Rep Stage.

Maryland Science Center will receive $4,500 to present Family Science Nights, a science-enrichment program, at three Howard County Title 1 elementary schools.

Maryland Zoo in Baltimore will receive $3,288 to bring their ZOOmobile outreach program to Title 1 elementary schools in Howard County.

National Aquarium in Baltimore will receive $3,667 for a senior citizen outreach program that brings the wonders of the ocean to assisted living communities.

Port Discovery Children's Museum will receive $4,843 to present Slammin’ Jammin’ Theater Arts Explosion Under the Dome, a collection of programs that encourages artistic expression and group play, at the Robinson Nature Center.

The Arts Council is also pleased to announce that two Howard County arts organizations will receive grants from the Organizational Development Grant Program.  The Organizational Development Grant Program was established to stabilize and enhance the organizational development and professional business management skills of non-profit arts organizations in Howard County.

Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts will receive $1,600 to participate in Leadership Howard County Premier, a leadership  development program.

Kinetics Dance Theatre will receive $300 for a 4-part Board Development training session.
