Ellicott City Main Street Among Final Four in National Contest

Online voting is open until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday as Ellicott City goes toe-to-toe with Tennessee town.

Main Street Ellicott City is in the national spotlight, as it competes for the title of best Main Street in America.

It has made it to the quarterfinals in the Parade magazine contest for the best Main Street in America, with towns identified by reader submissions and whittled down through online voting.

Ellicott City has to get more votes than Collerville, TN, to make it to the final round of the contest.

As of noon on Tuesday, Ellicott City had fewer votes than its opponent—Collerville has 54.69 percent of the votes with Ellicott City at 45.31 percent.

According to Parade, Collerville is an "old-fashioned" town in Tennessee known for its Easter egg hunt, street parades and decorated gazebos.

Parade described Ellicott City as having an "enchanting downtown Main Street [that] winds and slopes with the valley that shaped it," where small businesses contribute to the fabric of the community.

The other two towns pitted against each other to make it to the final round of the contest are McMinnville, OR, and Siloam Springs, AR. The top two will be announced Wednesday morning, when online voting will be open to determine the winner.
