Want to Help Keep Ellicott City Clean?

There's a weekend stream cleanup on the Tiber.

The Patapsco Heritage Greenway needs your help.

The nonprofit group that helps preserve the Patapsco River Valley is cleaning up several sections of the Tiber Hudson branch in Ellicott City this weekend, and it needs volunteers.

"...a lot of trash and litter ... has been washed down the storm drains of nearby streets..." the organization reported.

Help to keep Ellicott City clean! The Patapsco Heritage Greenway cleanup is open to all and will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 12.

Register online! All registered volunteers will be notified by email if there is a cancelation prior to the event. If it looks like rain on the day of the event, volunteers can also call 410-480-0824 after 8 a.m. and there will be a recording if it's canceled.

Preparing for the cleanup, from Patapsco Heritage Greenway:

  • Wear boots or other waterproof shoes, a hat, long pants and long-sleeved shirt to stay protected from scrap metal or vegetation.
  • Bring water, work gloves or other garden tools, if you have them. Most of the trash/litter is in the stream banks next to the water.
  • Children under 16 are welcome if they are supervised and accompanied by an adult volunteer.
