Rise in burglaries in Ellicott City make gun ownership more appealing for some residents

What will you do when you're face to face with a violent criminal?

Any reader can see the rise in home burglaries in Ellicott City as alarming and there are many options available to make your home less vulnerable to thieves.

But sometimes security systems and locking doors does no good, and sometimes the best deterrent is arming yourself to protect your property and valuables.

A study of Pennsylvania burglary inmates reported that many burglars refrain from late-night burglaries because it's hard to tell if anyone is home, several explaining "That's the way to get shot."

More and more stories are being told where residents shot burglars, some fatally.  Every citizen has a right to defend themselves and their property.

Many burglaries happen when people are home.  Even worse are burglaries where the invader wishes harm on the inhabitants.

With no end in sight due to the easy access to residential areas from Route 40 and its proximity to Baltimore City and a police force more interested in sucking revenue from taxpayers for speeding along Route 40, will you be arming yourself despite the current anti-gun crowd in Annapolis?

Your thoughts are welcome.
