Baltimore Area Special Hockey, also known as the
Baltimore Saints, provides weekly hockey training and playing opportunities for

more than 100 children and adults with intellectual disabilities five years of

age and older. Participants have intellectual disabilities such as autism, Down
Syndrome, cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury. A few Saints players and
their families travel more than one hour to attend weekly on-ice sessions in
Reisterstown.

Admission to the game is $5 and 100% of the gate
receipts, up to $400, will be matched by Huskies player Zack Landow.  In lieu of a donation, the Huskies are also
collecting gently used hockey equipment for the Saints at the door.  In addition to the scrimmage, Huskies players

will provide the Saints with a clinic focusing on stick-handling, skating and

other aspects of hockey. The Howard County players have already had one session
working with the Saints earlier this season and cannot wait for the scrimmage
on December 22nd.

The Saints and Huskies mascots will be in
attendance in addition to ice cream and Christmas goodies after the game.

“It has been proven that regular ice hockey
playing provides meaningful benefits to individuals with intellectual
disabilities. The helmets block out noise and reduce distractions, the many
pads prevent injuries and the motion of skating supports physical dexterity off
the ice,” explained Oliver Landow. “I believe that our weekly Huskies
volunteers and mentors derive just as much benefit as the players.
