The Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Open House on Saturday, October 13th, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Fire Station #2, 4150 Montgomery Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Visitors, both children and adults, can enjoy food and fun, while they collect useful public safety information and explore fire and rescue apparatus. Children can also use a real fire hose or carry a dummy in one of our Junior Firefighter Challenge activities and even have their faces painted. We will also offer blood pressure checks, vehicle rescue demonstrations, and tours of the fire station. The Howard County Emergency Services Command Unit, a 2006 Pierce Lance HDR, funded by the US Department of Homeland Security, will be on site for visitors to explore during the event. Visitors will have opportunities to meet and talk to the men and women responding to fire and rescue emergencies in our community. If you find the firefighter with a boot collecting contributions, and decide to make a donation while you’re visiting, we would certainly appreciate it, but the event is free to the public. We hope you can make it!
