Charm City Roller Girls - Season 8 Interleague Game 4

Charm City Roller Girls Court Close Competition

Female Trouble v. Pioneer Valley & CCRG All Stars v. Naptown

BALTIMORE- On Saturday, July 20, 2013, The Charm City Roller Girls’ interleague season continues. First up, CCRG’s Female Trouble faces Pioneer Valley’s Western Mass Destruction in a heated rematch of their 2011 East Coast Derby Extravaganza (ECDX) grudge fest. At ECDX ‘11, tight officiating and numerous penalties kept the score tied until the last jam of the game when a late call off allowed Pioneer Valley to eke out a win in the final seconds. Needless to say, Female Trouble is looking for an opportunity to exorcise old demons and redeem themselves on their home turf.

The competition continues as the CCRG All Stars (#17 WFTDA) square off against Naptown’s Tornado Sirens (#18 WFTDA) in what could be the All Stars’ most even matchup of the season. Both teams are known as perennial powerhouses in their respective regions and made it to the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association’s (WFTDA) Championship tournament in 2011 and 2012. And while different ranking systems tend to invert the current standings, it’s unclear who is truly superior since the teams have never met each other on the track. Therefore, the pressure is on Charm to prove that their current standing is no fluke.

Join the fun at the Clarence “Du” Burns Arena, 1301 S. Ellwood Avenue. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The first bout is at 6:30 p.m. with the second game starting around 8:00 p.m. This event is family friendly and wheelchair accessible. Tickets are available at the door for $15, but patrons can save money purchasing online at www.missiontix.com; kids 5 to 12 are $5; general admission is $12; VIP tickets are $25. Street parking is plentiful and paid parking lots are within walking distance of the venue.

The Charm City Roller Girls is Baltimore's only all-female flat track roller derby league. Charm is a member of the WFTDA and is proudly skater owned and operated.
