Weekend Weather: Rain for First Day of Fall

Fall 2012 starts Saturday. And we'll have the weather to prove it.

Fall will be ushered in Saturday with – what else? – rain. But the National Weather Service forecast also promises some sun this weekend.

Today will be mostly sunny and a bit warmer than yesterday with temperatures nearing 80 degrees and dropping to about 60 at night.

The first day of fall, there’s a 30 percent chance of rain, but not until the early evening. Until then, skies should be partly sunny and temperatures will rise to the mid 80s during the day. The chance of rain jumps to 60 percent at night, when temperatures dip to the mid-50s.

On Sunday, the sun returns, but temperatures aren’t expected to rise above 70 degrees and they’ll drop to the high 48s at night.

We can expect more of the same sunny, cool weather on Monday.
