National Weather Service issues, extends tornado watch for Howard, other counties

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Howard County and several other areas throughout Maryland early Wednesday evening.

A tornado watch means that the weather could possibly lead to a tornado forming in the area.

The agency issued the severe weather watch shortly after 5 p.m. and had said it would end at 8 p.m. EDT. However, shortly after 8 p.m. it said the tornado watch will remain in effect until 2 a.m. EDT Thursday.
