Things to Know about Ellicott City Today: June 21

The National Weather Service is forecasting a hot first day of summer with a high temperature near 90 degrees. There may be some rain again; there's about 40 percent chance of showers and maybe some morning thunderstorms. 

The sun will reach its highest point in the sky today at about 1:16 p.m. Thus begins summer, as far as astronomy is concerned; the sun is as far north as it will get for the year.
