Things to Know about Ellicott City Today: July 8

Head into the day a little more informed.

Rain is in today's forecast -- showers, storms, thunderstorms, you name it, we might see it. The National Weather Service is foreacasting rain after 9 a.m. with up to an inch of water when it's all said and done. Temperatures should reach about 85 degrees. It's expected to continue through the night, when temperatures drop to about 68 degrees.

More music in Ellicott City -- tonight's Traveling Bands Summer Concert Series features Captain Jack at . Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic dinner to make the most out of the evening. Music starts at 7 p.m. For inclement weather (see above) call 410-313-4451.

Ellicott City Paint It! starts in earnest today. Look for artists on the streets, transferring Old Ellicott City to canvas. If you'd like to join the fun -- and have your art displayed at the Howard County Center for the Arts -- register at Howard County Tourism, 8267 Main Street, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
