Things to Know about Ellicott City Today: July 27

Head into the day a little more informed.

We can expect another war-side-of-mild day today. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature of 80 degrees with clear, sunny skies. Temperatures should drop to 68 deg over night. If you have chores to do outside, you may want to do them today as the temperatures are set to climb through Friday.

Bring a blanket a picnic to tonight for a night of jazz with David Bach Cosort. The show starts at 7 p.m. and is free, though there's a $3 parking donation requested. In case of inclement weather, call 410-313-4451. 

No it's not a shuttle, but ... you may catch a glimpse of NASA's low-flying plane today. It will be buzzing around the Baltimore-Washington corridor  from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., NASA reported. To watch the flight pattern in real-time, click here.

And ... On this day in 1909, Orville Wright and Army Lt. Frank P. Lahm broke the world record for longest airplane flight by two men. They flew for one hour, 12 minutes, 40 seconds averaging about 40 mph.
