The Storm That Wasn't

Power was restored to nearly all customers last night after a severe storm just missed the area. But people still had plenty to say about the storm that didn't happen.

Hundreds of customers lost power Wednesday evening as Howard County felt the effects of a severe storm that blew past the area. According to BGE, nearly all customers were restored before midnight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued severe thunderstorm warning early Wednesday evening a thunderstorm that produced hail the size of quarters and winds faster than 60 mph was spotted just before 4:30 p.m. near Beltsville.

The warning was quickly downgraded back to a "watch," meaning the conditions were ripe for a severe thunderstorm, but none was imminent.
