Shop Maryland Energy Weekend: Save Energy, Money
This weekend shoppers get a break on energy efficient appliances.
Did Friday’s weather get you thinking about air conditioning?
If so, this may be a good time to buy a unit. This weekend, Maryland shoppers can buy Energy Star-approved air conditioners, dehumidifiers, or a number of other products tax-free.
The weekend before the third Monday in February is Shop Maryland Energy weekend. The state’s 6 percent sales tax will be waived Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the following Energy Star items:

- Air conditioners
- Clothes washers and dryers
- Furnaces
- Heat pumps
- Boilers
- Solar water heaters (tax-exempt at all times now)
- Standard size refrigerators
- Dehumidifiers
- Programmable thermostats
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs
